Do Over Halloween

I calling this a do over because my last post was so long ago...

Halloween 2008: The boys got to wear their superman jammies and bring their Elmo and Banky Bear to preschool to celebrate the day. I got my butt kicked as usual at the body shop class and the big kids enjoyed their time at home zone.

The real fun happened while we were trick or treating downtown Bothell. This was the first year the boys were really aware of other costumed kids and the whole cause and effect of saying "trick or treat" and getting some candy. I loved watching 2 kids dressed as similar or same characters pass each other. I imagine the unspoken conversation went something like this... "Hey, Obi-wan Kenobi it's me, Janga Fett. We should be friends and go fight someone. But we're not. Hmmm..." or "Hey, you're Spiderman? Then who am I?" Lots of identity determination going on.

We lost Philip for 5 minutes on main street. Philip of all of the kids?! I guess he is a bit absent minded. I finally told a police officer we were looking for him and he says into his walkie talkie "(Police mumbo jumbo including numbers) white male, batman." The response, "There are a lot of batmans around here." Roger found him walking around near the Cozy Cottage - no tears or crying at all.

After dinner with Scott and Monica (orange crusted pizza - yum) we went trick or treating around the neighborhood. I met more neighbors in 30 minutes than in 3 years. You can't judge a homeowner by the house. The older 70s style house with a yapping dog? Belongs to a young couple without kids. The scary house with a roof that needs attention? Nice gentleman with a cute pomeranian. The cool updated farmhouse? Running guy.

2 big bowls of candy is all that's left.

Online diary?

I think I'd like to try blogging as my own personal journal. There is so much I want to remember, especially with the kids this little.

Tonight Peter said, "Mom?" "Yes Peter." "I love you mom." Then something else cute I can't remember. At dinner, "Thank you mom, for giving me the best apple." After nap today, as I lay next to him, he wraps his arm around my neck and squeezes me tight.

Trying to wake Tommy up and giving him little tickles. I wasn't sure how he would respond but I guess I tickled him just right because he giggled and was in a happy mood.

We have been sick and waiting to be sick. I actually missed doing my jobs as a mom and wife. I'm not sure what to do with my hopes for routine and schedule for the new year, as January always seems to bring illness and craziness. At least I can work on better sleep habits.
